The challenge
In early 2023 there was no playbook for consumer AI: the APIs were weeks old, latency and costs were wild, and nobody knew what an AI product should feel like on a phone. The real race was shipping something people could actually use while 'first' was still on the table.

The outcome
MindMate shipped in early 2023 — months ahead of the wave of AI companions that followed — and passed 5,000 organic installs on Google Play, where it's still live today. It remains our proof that a small team can take a brand-new technology from zero to shipped product in weeks.
